IFCE co-organized China's 1st env. NGO conference in Beijing during Oct. 28-29 in Beijing. More than 600 people from NGOs, gov. agencies, international agencies, research institues, media, students, etc. attended.

This landmark event was co-sposnored by Chinese Env. Federation,
Chinese NGO Promotion Council, IFCE, Greenpeace-China, Handan Env. Association and Tsinghua University. This is the first time gov-backed NGO, grassroots NGO and international NGO work together to promote env. protection and public participation in a nationwide scope. Leaders from
SEPA, CPPCC, leading reseach institutes and NGOs addressed at the opening ceremony. Panels inlcuding env. rights, media&env. internaitonal cooperation, etc. were held. IFCE's Vice President Dr. Rei Liu coordinated the panel on internaitonal cooperation. Dr. Ping He, the IFCE's president, attended the opening ceremony and briefed to the media.
