IFCE’s Activities (June –July 2005)

- IFCE Board Director, VP of Renmin University of ChinaProf. Feng Jun visited DC on June 9.Ping He hosted a dinner to welcome him.Nancy Tian and Frank Xia joined.We discussed the 4th NGO Forum and other areas of cooperation .
- IFCE Beijing office director Mr. Meng Liang led a group of 4 Chinese enviro. professionals to University of Missouri-Columbia to accept a 3-day training on waste water treatment. This is the first training course conducted. There will be another in September. The group visited DC after the training.
- Ping He visited Worldwatch Institute on June 15. He discussed with Chris Flavin, president of WWI and his sr. staff on possible cooperation between WWI and IFCE. WWI is considering sending a group of people to attend 4th NGO Forum.
- IFCE sent a suggestion report on June 10 to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee on ‘Establishing and publishing regulations for administration of international NGOs in China’.
- IFCE’s Wuhan office director, Ms. Fan Liangzhen was awarded as one of fifty outstanding people in environmental protection in Hubei province, China. She is the only NGO rep. to win this award.
- IFCE set up an Office of Secretary in Shanghai to coordinate the administrative affairs for projects in China. Ms. Zhao Xiaohua is in charge of that office.
- IFCE provided references for three Chinese NGO leaders in Goldman enviro. award selection.
